Product overview
Aves Finishing Solution is a liquid aid for smoothing, feathering, seaming and cleaning uncured epoxy compounds. Apply a small amount to a brush, cotton bud, paper towel or sculpting tool to reduce drag, remove fingerprints and tidy residue before the epoxy sets. It is formulated for Aves Apoxie and FIXIT products, but Aves also states that it works with other epoxy brands, resins, paints and coatings. This 1 fl oz bottle is for the working stage only: once an epoxy has cured, the solution has little effect. Use it with ventilation, wear gloves and keep it away from open flames.
Dip a tool into the liquid to reduce drag while forming crisp lines and fine surface detail.
Use a paper towel, brush or cotton bud to remove fingerprints, excess compound and residue before hardening.
Aves states that it works with other brands of epoxy as well as its own compounds.
Test fabrics and sensitive surfaces for colourfastness and structure before using it more widely.
It has only a very small effect on fully cured epoxy, which normally has to be removed mechanically.
Aves classifies it as a combustible liquid: work with ventilation and keep it away from smoking or open flames.

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?+
Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.
How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?+
Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.
How do I get the mixing ratio right?+
Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.
How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?+
Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
