Product overview

AK’s Tufts Full Range combines four forms of self-adhesive miniature vegetation on one variant listing: grass clusters, flat moss, leaf-scattered dio-mats, and foliage or blossom sheets. The conventional grass tufts span 4–10 mm in height, while AK8131 is a flat moss texture rather than a measured tuft. Together, the variants cover ground growth, seasonal grass, fallen leaves and tree foliage for bases and dioramas.

  • Grass tufts: AK8122 Backwater 4 mm, AK8125 Steppe 8 mm, AK8126 Dry 8 mm, AK8127 Light Green 10 mm, AK8128 Backwater 6 mm, AK8129 Dense Autumn 8 mm and AK8130 Dense Spring 6 mm.
  • Moss: AK8131 Realistic Dark Green Moss supplies a flat vegetation texture without a stated tuft height.
  • Dio-mats: AK8139 Summer and AK8140 Autumn combine grass with scattered fallen leaves.
  • Foliage and blossom: AK8142 Birch Foliage Autumn, AK8143 Blossom Tufts Fall, AK8145 Beech Foliage Summer and AK8146 Platane Foliage Summer.
  • Self-adhesive tufts can be lifted with tweezers and placed directly; white glue or AK118 can reinforce the bond.
  • The foliage and blossom products are recommended for 1:32, 1:35 and 1:48 projects.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
