Product overview

AK Interactive Rust and Abandoned contains six matt 3rd Generation acrylic colours for rust finishes and painted chipping effects on models and accessories. The set combines orange-brown, several rust tones, hull red and a dark chocolate chipping colour. The paints can be mixed to create transitions between fresh, light and dark oxidation or used separately for chips and worn areas. They are brushable with high coverage and adhesion and can be airbrushed after thinning.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
