Product overview

AK Interactive Real Colors WWII RAF Day Fighter Scheme contains four lacquer paints for the camouflage adopted by RAF Fighter Command in August 1941 and retained into the post-war period. RAF Dark Green and RAF Ocean Grey cover the upper surfaces, with RAF Medium Sea Grey beneath. RAF Sky was used for details including tail bands and propeller spinners. The set is intended for late-war fighters, Mosquito bomber variants and early post-war RAF aircraft carrying the scheme.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): RC960 RAF Dark Green, RC962 RAF Ocean Grey, RC963 RAF Medium Sea Grey, RC964 RAF Sky
  • Lacquer-based Real Colors with a soft matt finish, ready for weathering
  • Dark Green / Ocean Grey upper surfaces, Medium Sea Grey undersides, Sky for tail bands and spinners
  • Formulated for airbrush application; thin with RC701 or RC702 (or another lacquer-based thinner)

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
