Product overview

Light Soil is a pale, light-earth enamel liquid pigment with a faint greenish cast, for soils and light dust build-up. Worked on with a brush, undiluted, it needs no fixer; the enamel sets by itself once dry.

  • Add White Spirit to dilute it and feather the edges, or to blend fresh colour through it before it sets.
  • It dries matt, holding the pale earth tone as a flat layer.
  • Re-wet a dry patch to soften or move it, and a dusting of dry pigment finishes it.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
