Paint chips sell age and hard use faster than almost any other effect, and this four-piece weathering set covers the whole job with two 35 ml chipping fluids and two 17 ml 3GEN acrylics. Worn Effects and Heavy Chipping are the fluids; Chocolate and Aluminium are the chipping colours, the Aluminium aimed at chips in paint that has been applied over aluminium surfaces, in AK's own words. Virtually any type of paint chip can be created with the set, and AK points it beyond armour at aircraft, sci-fi vehicles and trains. A chipping user guide is included in the box. All four items are stocked by us separately.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
