Product overview

AK8312 is the thinner of these two modelling sheets: 0.1 mm aluminium that favours fine formed details rather than added rigidity. It can be folded, rolled or impressed into components such as flags, awnings and vehicle seatbelts, while retaining the character of real metal after shaping. The 200 × 250 mm sheet also gives room for larger items including corrugated roofing, damaged panels and small tool racks, then cuts down for individual parts.

  • The surface is bare aluminium without a factory-applied primer.
  • Its thickness is also expressed as 100 μm.
  • Suitable project types include miniatures, dioramas and scale models.
  • The sheet is made in Spain.

Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?

Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.

What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?

Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.

How do I keep tools in good condition?

Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
