Product overview

AK066 is an enamel wash made for the Afrika Korps and other light-coloured desert vehicles. Brushed into the details of a model, it deepens shadow and brings out relief as part of a weathering job, and the surplus is wiped back once it has settled. Like the rest of this line it is a single-scheme wash, formulated for a specific paint colour rather than as a catch-all.

  • Designed for German DAK tanks painted in light sand colours.
  • Also suits other light-coloured desert vehicles, not dark or green schemes.
  • An enamel product: remove the excess with a clean brush and Enamel Thinner, not water.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
