A boxed set of nine paints for reproducing rust, oxidation and bare-metal effects on scale models and miniatures. The selection covers the full progression from clean steel through early patchy corrosion to heavy rust, with a sepia wash for recesses and a dry pigment for adding final surface texture. Eight Model Color bottles, one Pigment and one Model Wash make up the nine, all water-based. Includes two brushes, a mixing palette and a colour chart.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
