02 Product description
TRUE 60mm Round Bases - PETG 3D Printed | Hobby Heaven UK

🚨 Read Before Buying

These are TRUE 60mm bases - exactly 60mm diameter.

Most "60mm bases" sold online (including GW) are actually 63mm. Our TRUE 60mm are 3mm smaller and will NOT fit:

  • Movement trays designed for 63mm
  • Base toppers/inserts for "60mm" (actually 63mm)
  • Existing GW-standard armies

⚠️ Need GW-compatible 63mm? These are NOT for you.

📐 Specifications

🔓 Open Basing System (OBS)

GW calls them "60mm" but they're 63mm. The industry followed. We made actual 60mm for hobbyists who need real dimensions - not "close enough."

Your models. Your army. Your choice.

🎯 Who Needs TRUE 60mm?

📐 Scale modellers 🏛️ Historical wargamers 🎯 Precision projects 🔧 Custom trays 🎪 Dioramas 📏 CAD/laser cut 🎲 Non-GW systems

💡 If you're designing custom movement trays or laser-cut MDF with metric dimensions - these will actually fit a 60mm hole.

🧪 Why PETG?

💪 Tough
Impact resistant
🔥 Heat Safe
Won't warp
🎨 Paintable
Primer & paint
🧲 Glue Ready
CA & plastic cement

⚠️ About FDM Printing

Seams: FDM prints have a visible "Z-seam" - a thin vertical line on the base edge. This is not a defect, it's normal.

Layer lines: Subtle horizontal lines may be visible. These largely disappear after priming.

💡 For glass-smooth display pieces, resin might suit you better. For gaming, these work brilliantly.

🛠️ Prep Tips

  • Wash with soap & water before priming
  • Prime with Vallejo, Army Painter, or Citadel spray
  • Sand with 400-600 grit if ultra-smooth needed
  • Base with texture paste, sand, tufts - all adhere well

❓ FAQ

Will these fit GW movement trays?

No. GW trays are for 63mm. These will be loose. If you need GW compatibility, these are not for you.

Why do GW bases say "60mm" if they're 63mm?

GW always called them 60mm, the industry followed. The actual measurement is 63mm. We call ours "TRUE 60mm" to be clear.

Do you sell 63mm (GW standard) too?

Yes! Check our shop for the full OBS range including 63mm GW-compatible bases.

Do I need to prime them?

Highly recommended. Acrylic paint on unprimed PETG can scratch off.

03 OBS FAQs
Can I add magnets underneath OBS bases?

Check the selected option's underside opening and available underside depth in Technical Specifications before choosing magnets. Magnet fit depends on the actual cavity dimensions and the magnet you plan to use, so it should not be assumed to be the same across every base.

How do I choose the right base size?

Start with the base footprint required for your model or game, then confirm the selected option against the Technical Specifications. If you are replacing an existing base, measure it carefully and compare its physical footprint before ordering.

How should I use the technical drawing?

Choose your option first, then use the technical drawing and Technical Specifications to check the physical dimensions of the product. When matching an existing part or accessory, use the drawing rather than relying on the product name alone.

Can I rely on the nominal size alone?

No. Products with similar nominal sizes can have different physical dimensions or fit differently across brands and systems. Check the technical drawing, specifications and any product-specific compatibility note before ordering.
