Hog bristle short filbert for oil painting. Traditional French brush for blending and scumbling.
The Raphael Paris Classic 3577 is a hog bristle short filbert brush designed for oil painting. The filbert shape — a flat brush with a rounded tip — is one of the most versatile oil painting shapes, capable of broad strokes, soft blending, and detailed edge work depending on how it is held.
The short bristle length gives more control and firmness than long filberts, making the 3577 suitable for detailed oil work and scumbling rather than loose, expressive strokes. Raphael's hog bristle quality is excellent — stiff enough to move thick oil paint, with naturally flagged tips that hold and distribute pigment evenly.

How to care for your brush
Clean with artist-grade brush cleaner or solvent suitable for oil paints. Work paint out from the ferrule thoroughly. Reshape the filbert profile and store upright or flat. Hog bristle is tough and durable. Do not use water-based cleaners without solvent pre-cleaning for oil paints.
