Three pounds of Native Apoxie Clay is aimed at studios producing larger figures, repeated assemblage work or multiple detailed pieces in the same tan-brown body. The mid-tone gives sculpted volume and shadow a readable working surface, while the material’s fine grain carries wrinkles, fingerprints and pressed texture. Divide the job into batches that can be placed during its 1–3-hour workable period. No oven is involved: it hardens on its own and reaches full cure at 24 hours.
- When a fresh batch is initially too sticky, Aves says to let it stand for 20 minutes before returning to the work.
- Aves Finishing Solution is the specified aid for feathering small features; plain water is the option for broad areas.
- Sand or abrade cured clay only with a dust mask and adequate ventilation.
- Retrieve each part with its own tool and mix until no colour variation remains.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?
Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.
How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?
Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.
How do I get the mixing ratio right?
Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.
How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?
Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
