Product overview

AK459 supplies the True Metal formula in Iron. Rather than relying on the initial laydown alone, the wax-based paint can be polished after drying so its metallic character is brought forward mechanically. For direct placement, it may be applied with a brush; a fingertip or cotton swab are also supported methods. Airbrush application is available when the material is correctly thinned.

  • Iron is supplied in a 20 ml quantity.
  • Preparing the surface with primer before application is recommended.
  • White spirit is used to thin the material for airbrushing.
  • The recommended period for complete drying is 48 hours.
  • Production takes place in Spain.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
