Product overview

Orange Blizzard is a bright orange enamel liquid pigment, mixed to stand in for orange calcite and sapphire-powder soils — a vivid colour for bright mineral ground and colourful basework. Brush it on as-is; being enamel-based it fixes itself, so nothing needs sealing afterwards.

  • White Spirit opens it up for lighter passes and for blending, and you can feed extra colour in while it is fresh to shift the intensity.
  • It settles to a matt finish.
  • Lay dry pigments over it to complete the build.
  • Once dry, a patch re-wets with White Spirit if you want to soften or move it.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
