This AK Interactive Wargame Series starter set pairs fourteen 3rd Generation acrylics with a 28 mm Thegn warrior of the Northern Alliance, a Kings of War figure by Mantic, supplied unpainted. In AK's framing the figure plays for the Northern Alliance in Kings of War or serves in any other board game or project, and the fourteen colours widen a painter's range for any kind of figure. A printed painting guide is included; the box front credits the painted example to Josedavinci.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
