The glass fibre pencil is used in the modelling world to perform precision sanding work, to realize stressed panels and simulating the dents in sheets metal in an easy and controllable way. To eliminate glue spills before the painting process and thus avoid unwanted effects, for this and many other uses.

*Recommendable: Work in glasses and gloves, and thoroughly clean the workplace with vacuum cleaner after finishing the job. The small pieces of glass fibre that crumble during the sanding process, can be really dangerous.
Sprue cutters or a hobby knife — what do I actually need?
Cutters remove parts from the sprue cleanly; the knife trims the leftover nub and mould lines. You'll want both — they do different jobs.
What's the difference between single-blade and double-blade cutters?
Single-blade cutters shear against a flat anvil for an ultra-clean cut with less stress on the plastic; double-blade cutters are tougher for general work.
How do I keep tools in good condition?
Cut plastic only (never metal sprues or wire) with precision cutters, replace knife blades often, and keep files clear with a brass brush.
