Product Description

The N5 needle (IWN-0754 / N0754) is the original 0.5mm fluid needle for the Neo for Iwata TRN2 — a side-feed, pistol-trigger airbrush designed for comfortable coverage work and general-purpose spraying.

Iwata manufactures this needle from precision-ground stainless steel with a consistently finished taper. It works with the N5 nozzle and nozzle cap to deliver the TRN2's broad, even spray pattern — capable of covering surfaces up to approximately 38mm (1.5") wide at optimal settings.

If your original needle has been bent, nicked, or worn, this is the part that brings your TRN2 back to factory performance. A bent needle is the single most common cause of erratic spray, spitting, and asymmetric patterns — and straightening rarely gives lasting results.

At 0.5mm, this needle is optimised for coverage rather than ultra-fine detail — priming, basecoating, varnishing, and laying down smooth coats on larger surfaces. The entire Neo series performs well at lower pressures, making this a practical choice for hobbyists with smaller compressors.

What's in the Box

1 × Iwata N5 Fluid Needle 0.5mm (IWN-0754) in original Iwata packaging.

Compatibility

✔ Direct fit: Neo for Iwata TRN2 (side-feed, pistol-trigger airbrush)

🔄 Conversion fit: Neo for Iwata TRN1 (gravity-feed) — requires additional N5 head base, N5 nozzle and N5 nozzle cap

✘ Does NOT fit: Neo CN, Neo BCN, Eclipse, Revolution, Hi-Line, Custom Micron, or any other Iwata series

Pairs with: N5 Nozzle — if your needle was bent, check your nozzle too. A bent needle can deform the nozzle opening over time, causing leaks even with a fresh needle.

Pro Tips — Getting the Most from Your New Needle

Check your nozzle too. If your old needle was bent, it may have worn the nozzle into an oval shape. Replacing both needle and nozzle together is the most reliable way to restore a clean spray pattern.

Inspect the needle packing. While you have the TRN2 open, check the needle seal — if it's dry or worn, apply a small amount of airbrush lubricant or glycerine to keep the trigger action smooth.

Never clean from the front. Always remove the needle from the back for cleaning. Pushing anything into the nozzle end risks bending the tip — the most common cause of needle damage.

Don't straighten — replace. Even a micro-bend that looks "fixed" will gradually damage your nozzle and produce inconsistent spray. A fresh needle is always the better fix.

TRN1 owners: You can convert your 0.35mm TRN1 to a broader 0.5mm setup using this needle plus the N5 head base, N5 nozzle, and N5 nozzle cap — a practical route if you want more coverage without buying a second airbrush.

Worth Knowing

This needle is designed for the Neo TRN2. It does not drop into the Neo CN, Neo BCN, or other Iwata series — double-check your airbrush model before ordering.

At 0.5mm, this needle is optimised for coverage — not ultra-fine detail work. If you need very thin lines and minimal overspray, a 0.35mm (N3) configuration will serve you better.

A new needle alone won't fix all spray issues. If your nozzle is damaged, the needle packing is worn, or the paint channel is clogged, those problems need addressing separately.

Like all precision airbrush needles, the tip is delicate. Dropping the airbrush, cleaning from the nozzle end, or leaving it uncapped are the most common ways to damage it.

Ideal For

Miniature painters — priming, basecoating, varnishing, zenithal highlights, large creatures & vehicles

Scale modellers — large panel coverage on aircraft, armour 1/35, automotive 1/24

Terrain builders — boards, buildings, scenic pieces where coverage speed matters

TRN1 conversion — upgrading a 0.35mm TRN1 to a broader 0.5mm coverage setup
