Product overview

Dry Bracken is a very common fern caught after the season has turned: dry brown fronds in place of green growth. It is ground cover for the late year, whether that is leaf litter over a forest floor, thin planting along a track, or the bare-tree end of a woodland scene. One sheet carries 26 leaves, and their sizes and brown tones are not all the same, so a stand built out of it varies as it spreads.

  • Mixed through green bracken leaves it builds a large fern-rich stand; on its own it reads as a full autumn planting.
  • Bracken is the same fern in its green season, and we sell that as a separate sheet.
  • Colour and cut are settled before the blister is packed, so a frond needs nothing but glue to go down.

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
