The blue DSPIAE PT-SP10 begins the polishing end of the pad range. Its 1000-grit self-adhesive paper follows the clean-up stages, refining an already-shaped surface before primer or a gloss coat rather than correcting the shape itself. The acrylic backings remain flat, reusable tools when the abrasive wears out; trim and replace the paper while retaining the same colour-coded support.

  • The narrow pad measures 5 mm across, the middle 10 mm and the broad face 25 mm; each backing is 2.5 mm thick.
  • Blue faces and silkscreened 1000 identifiers distinguish the loaded abrasive without added stickers.
  • Cut a strip to length with a hobby knife, peel it and press it onto the chosen pad.
  • The smallest width works between close panel lines, while the broadest keeps contact across open surfaces.

What's the difference between a needle file and a sanding stick?

Needle files are steel, cut faster and hold their shape for tight spots and metal. Sanding sticks are foam or paper-backed abrasive, kinder to plastic and better for smoothing broad, flat surfaces without gouging.

Which grit should I start with on mould lines?

For plastic, start around 400 grit to knock the line back, then refine with 600–800. Coarser than 400 leaves scratches you then have to chase out, so only go lower for resin flash or heavy work.

Should I file wet or dry?

Wet sanding with a drop of water reduces dust and clogging and gives a finer finish, which matters on resin where the dust is best not inhaled. Dry filing is fine for quick metal work and steel needle files.

How do I stop a file clogging with plastic or resin?

Brush it out with a stiff brass brush along the cut direction. For sanding sticks, tap them clean often. Clogged abrasive stops cutting and starts burnishing, which just polishes the high spots rather than removing them.
