Product overview

The 1 lb Stone White format provides a regular working quantity for pale sculpting, prototypes and repeated seam or restoration work. Two 8 oz jars hold the separate components until a batch is needed. Aves lists the current colour name as Stone White, but older packaging can be printed WHITE; receiving a jar marked WHITE does not indicate a different product. The shade is described by Aves as nearer copy-paper white, distinct from the separate brighter-white compound.

  • Its working period runs for 1–3 hours; the material self-hardens without baking and must cure fully for 24 hours before sanding or drilling.
  • Mix equal parts A and B at 50/50 and knead continuously for two minutes until the colour is even.
  • Aves records 0% shrinkage or cracking and a cured state that is hard and waterproof.
  • Resting the fresh mixture for five minutes improves handling, while cold water can reduce sticking during detail work.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
