Product overview

The 1 lb Yellow kit provides a practical working quantity for modelmaking, seam filling, conversions and small prototypes. Its 454 g total comes from two containers: an 8 oz (227 g) Part A jar and an equally sized Part B jar. This format allows individual batches to be prepared as each area is tackled. Because the working material is coloured, additions remain visually distinct from a grey or primed model during shaping, but the completed surface still accepts paint normally.

  • The usable shaping period extends across a 1–3-hour range.
  • Mix equal portions of Parts A and B at 50/50, kneading for two minutes so the batch activates fully.
  • Self-hardening takes place without an oven or other baking step.
  • Complete curing needs 24 hours and must finish before sanding or drilling begins.
  • Aves specifies 0% shrinkage and describes the cured compound as hard and waterproof.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
