Product overview

The ¼ lb Stone White kit suits a first test, a pale master pattern or a small modelling job where the working surface should remain light. Aves describes its regular white as closer to copy-paper white than the separate brighter-white product. Aves now lists this colour as Stone White, while older packs and labels may simply say WHITE; a pack marked WHITE is therefore the correct item. The compound stays workable for 1–3 hours and self-hardens without baking.

  • Two 2 oz pods on a blister card make up this ¼ lb kit.
  • Combine equal portions of Parts A and B at 50/50, kneading for two minutes to reach one consistent colour.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
