Woodland Tuft is The Army Painter's green tuft for the floor of a deep forest or a woodland glade, made for the bases of wargaming miniatures and for adding detail to scenery on the battlefield. The pack holds 77 tufts in three sizes, 12 large, 35 medium and 30 small, so there is one to suit any base. Take the tufts up one at a time with tweezers, put a small drop of super glue where it is going and press it into place. On The Army Painter's own example models it shares the base with other tufts from the range and with their Battlefield basing materials, which gives a more varied ground.

Notes · Q & A

What do tuft sizes like 2mm, 4mm and 6mm mean?

That's the grass fibre length. 2mm suits small bases and subtle ground cover, 4–6mm reads as fuller vegetation on 28–32mm miniature bases.

Are tufts self-adhesive?

Most modern tufts peel off their sheet with adhesive on the underside — press onto the base, no glue needed. Loose static grass is applied over PVA instead.

How do I apply static grass?

Brush PVA where you want grass, sprinkle or use an applicator, then tip off the excess once dry. An applicator makes fibres stand upright for a more natural look.
