Five pieces for most United States Army Air Force aircraft from late 1943 until the end of World War II and shortly after — and the pack mixes two AK lines: two 17 ml 3rd Generation acrylics in different olive drab shades for the anti-glare panels, and three 30 ml Xtreme Metal aluminiums. The three aluminium shades exist so a finish can show the difference between panels made from various metal sheets and the aluminium-painted, fabric-skinned control surfaces. AK names the subjects: P-38 Lightning, P-47 Thunderbolt, P-51 Mustang, B-17G Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell and B-26 Marauder.

Pack contains (5 pieces): AK11860 Dark Olive Drab 41 (17 ml, 3rd Generation acrylic), AK11863 ANA 613 Olive Drab (17 ml, 3rd Generation acrylic), AK479 Aluminium (30 ml, Xtreme Metal), AK480 Dark Aluminium (30 ml, Xtreme Metal), AK488 Matte Aluminium (30 ml, Xtreme Metal)
Two lines in one pack, so no single finish describes it: the two 3rd Generation bottles are matt acrylics, and the three Xtreme Metal bottles are metallics — one of which, Matte Aluminium, is itself matt
Thin the two 3rd Generation acrylics with an acrylic thinner such as AK11500 or AK712; the Xtreme Metal paints need AK470 Xtreme Thinner & Cleaner, and acrylic thinners must not be used on them

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
