WWII Luftwaffe Mid-War Colors is the big box of AK's four-part Luftwaffe run — eight 3rd Generation acrylics covering the schemes most modellers actually build. AK spells them out: RLM 02/71/65 on day fighters from late 1939 and heavy fighters from spring 1940 until approx. mid-1941; RLM 74/75/76 afterwards on the same categories and on night fighters, sometimes with RLM 02 or 70 mottling; RLM 70/71/65 on bomber, ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft until late 1944; and RLM 66 with RLM 02 for cockpits and interiors. RLM 70 and RLM 71 carry over from the Early War box AK11716, and RLM 76 Version 2 reappears in the Late War box AK11718.

- Eight colours — the printed profile panel shows seven because RLM 66 is a cockpit-interior colour and never appears on an exterior side profile
- Matt finish throughout — no metallic or gloss member in the box
- Acrylic colours for brush; for airbrush, dilute with water or AK11500 thinner
- The box carries AK's printed "Scale Reduction Factor" mark, as on the rest of the 3GEN AIR range

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
