Product overview

WWII Luftwaffe Cockpit & Interior Colors is the interiors box of AK's Luftwaffe range: four 3rd Generation acrylics AK calls indispensable for painting the cockpits and other inner surfaces of German aircraft from the World War II era. The structure is the product — two colours in two year variants each, RLM 02 RLM-Grau and RLM 66 in their 1938 and 1941 renderings, matched to the Farbtontafeln colour charts issued with the L.Dv. 521/1 of 1938 and November 1941. AK11717 Mid-War holds RLM 66 (1938) and RLM 02 (1941), so the two boxes together give the full interior spread; RLM 02 (1938) also appears in AK11716 Early War.

  • Set contains (4 × 17 ml): AK11811 RLM 02 RLM-Grau (1938), AK11812 RLM 02 RLM-Grau (1941), AK11819 RLM 66 (1938), AK11820 RLM 66 (1941)
  • The label shows a photograph of a real aircraft cockpit alongside the colour swatches
  • Matt finish throughout — no metallic or gloss member in the box
  • Acrylic colours for brush; for airbrush, dilute with water or AK11500 thinner
  • The box carries AK's printed "Scale Reduction Factor" mark, as on the rest of the 3GEN AIR range
  • Made by AK Interactive S.L. in Logroño, Spain

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
