Product overview
AK302 Wash for Grey Decks is a 35 ml Ship Series enamel wash tuned to the horizontal surfaces of grey warships. It gives deck planking, joins and fittings clearer separation while retaining the tonal character of the surrounding paint. The intended subjects include Kriegsmarine, United States Navy and Imperial Japanese Navy vessels; matching grey areas on aircraft or armoured vehicles also fall within its published uses.
- Agitate the bottle before working the wash along the deck detail with a brush.
- Remove surplus material using a clean brush lightly moistened with White Spirit.
- Odourless Turpentine provides another compatible way to dissolve or soften the enamel.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
