Trains Undercarriage Weathering Set is a three-jar blister of AK's 35 ml weathering enamels made for the running gear of railway models — the effects most usually seen on the bogies and wheels of trains, as AK puts it. All three jars are enamel products, described by AK as high quality and easy to use. Light Rust Wash handles rust on frames and fittings, Shafts and Bearings Grease gives the oily look of axle boxes and bearings, and Light Dust Deposit settles a dry, dusty film over everything underneath. It is the natural companion to the locomotive and wagon set, which weathers the bodywork above.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
