AK454 True Metal Copper supplies 20 ml of coloured wax for producing a metallic finish on scale models. Lay it down with a brush, work it with a fingertip or transfer it using a cotton swab. Polishing the dry coat brings out the metal effect, while the wax formulation calls for a full 48-hour drying period.

  • Apply primer before adding the Copper colour.
  • White spirit is used when preparing it for airbrushing.
  • The completed layer may be covered by acrylic varnish.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
