Product overview

The 35 ml AK306 Salt Streaks for Ships is a Naval Series enamel effect for pale salt marks on vertical hull surfaces and horizontal areas reached by water. Its principal placement is around scuppers, where the product is drawn down the hull following the direction of flow. Salt can also collect near the lower hull beside the sea, giving this bottle a different purpose from brown dirt-grime effects.

  • Shake thoroughly and place irregular marks with a fine pointed brush.
  • Let the enamel dry for about 10 minutes before refining it.
  • Blend and soften with a flat brush dipped in AK011 White Spirit, following the water flow.
  • For a horizontal boundary, masking tape can provide a straight guide.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
