Product overview

Medium Earth is an all-round earth-toned enamel liquid pigment for general soil and dirt build-up — the everyday groundwork colour, and one that suits any vehicle or ship crossing Earth-like terrain. An enamel-carried pigment, not a dry powder, it brushes on neat and locks down by itself as it dries, so it needs no fixer coat afterwards.

  • White Spirit knocks it back for subtler passes, blends two earth tones together while wet, and reopens a dried area for a second go.
  • Dry, it’s flatly matt — a neutral base you can tint warmer or cooler with other colours.
  • Layer dry pigment over the finished colour to add grit and tooth.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
