Product overview

European Earth is a versatile, standard earth pigment for the ground and dirt of the European theatre, though it works elsewhere too. It suits armour and military work. Brush it on dry with a clean brush for a dusty finish that settles into the crevices, or wet it to place it precisely; once fully dry, you can add oil and grease stains over the top.

Apply it dry with a clean brush, then set it in place with Pigment Fixer, or with White Spirit.
A dusty finish needs no fixer, though fixing is still recommended; thinned with White Spirit, it flicks from an airbrush as splatter.
Different pigment colours can be mixed in before or after application.
The screw-top jar holds 35 ml.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
