AK Easy Cast Texture Medium adds the irregular, pitted look of cast metal to smooth plastic, resin and metal model parts. Supplied ready to use, it is applied straight from the jar with an old brush: dab the paste onto the part, then repeat the process wherever a rougher surface is wanted. The material is a neutral white, so what it leaves behind is a surface for paint rather than a finish in itself, restoring the cast character that a moulded part lacks. It is suitable for military, sci-fi, Gundam and other model subjects.
- Use without thinning or mixing; work directly from the jar with a dabbing motion.
- Repeat the application wherever more pronounced roughness is required.
- It dries in minutes; if the result is too coarse, smooth it with a fine-grit sanding pad or sandpaper.
- Clean the brush and other tools with water or AK 712 acrylic thinner.

What is a ready-made texture paste?
A ready-made texture paste creates physical surface relief without requiring every pit, ridge or irregularity to be sculpted separately. It is especially useful across broader areas where a consistent underlying texture is needed.
How can I control how rough the surface becomes?
Begin with a restrained application and assess the result before adding another pass. If the dried surface becomes too pronounced, the highest points may be reduced with a suitable fine abrasive, provided the manufacturer permits sanding.
Is a white texture paste the finished colour?
White paste is generally an intermediate working surface rather than the final visual finish. Once it has dried fully, add the colour and finishing system appropriate to the model and the manufacturer’s instructions.
How should I clean tools after using an acrylic texture paste?
Remove surplus paste before it hardens on brushes, palette knives or sculpting tools. For acrylic products, use water or the cleaner recommended by the paste manufacturer rather than allowing residue to dry in the tool.
