AK Interactive — Precision Tools
Cutting Tweezers — Flat Head
AK9331  ·  Stainless Steel  ·  Grip + Cut in One Motion
What Is This Tool?

A hybrid cutting tweezer that combines the precision grip of modelling tweezers with the cutting ability of a flush cutter — all in one slim, stainless steel instrument. The flat, sharpened tip doesn't just hold parts — it cuts through them cleanly with a controlled, linear shearing action.

Designed specifically for scale modellers and miniature hobbyists, it excels at tasks where standard side cutters are too bulky to reach or too aggressive for the material. Think of it as a scalpel-meets-tweezer: precise enough for detail work, strong enough to cut through resin supports, thin plastic, wire, and photo-etch.

If you've ever struggled to remove 3D-printed supports from a delicate resin miniature without damaging the surface — this is the tool built for that exact job.

Why You'll Reach for These Constantly

Grip + Cut in One Step — No more switching between tweezers and cutters. Grab the part, squeeze, it's cut. Halves the time on repetitive cleanup tasks like support removal.

🎯 Flat Head = Controlled Cuts — The flat, bevelled tip gives a wide, linear cutting edge rather than a pinch-point. Less risk of the blade wandering into your model compared to pointed-tip cutters.

🔩 Stainless Steel Construction — Corrosion-resistant, durable, and easy to clean. Won't rust even if you leave it on your hobby desk for months.

📐 Slim Profile, Big Reach — The tapered body fits into tight spaces that standard nippers can't access: recessed areas, between limbs, under cloaks, inside vehicle interiors.

🛡️ Gentle on Delicate Parts — Where side cutters can crush or deform thin plastic, the tweezer action applies force gradually. You feel the resistance before the cut, giving you full control.

What It's Built For
3D Print Support Removal The primary use case. Clip resin supports cleanly from SLA/DLP prints without scarring the model surface. The flat head gives a flush cut right at the connection point.
Photo-Etch Work Separate delicate PE parts from frets without bending them. The tweezer grip holds the part steady while the cutting edge severs the connection tab.
Fine Wire & Cable Trim soft wire, thin copper rod, rigging thread, and similar materials. Ideal for antenna wires, tow cables, and scratch-built details.
Thin Plastic & Foil Cut thin styrene sheet, masking film, decal edges, and similar sheet materials with tweezers-level precision.
Basing & Diorama Details Trim resin basing bits, small tufts, scatter pieces, and terrain accessories to fit your base layout.
Pro Tips

👉 Let the tool do the work. Apply gentle, progressive pressure — you'll feel the cutting edge engage before it shears through. This gives a cleaner cut with less stress on the tool and the part.

👉 Perfect partner for resin miniatures. If you're working with resin kits or 3D-printed models from Loot Studios, MyMiniFactory, or similar STL sources, these will quickly become your go-to for support removal.

👉 Not a replacement for sprue cutters. These excel at fine work and soft materials. For cutting thick plastic sprues or hard metal, use dedicated nippers. The flat head is designed for precision, not brute force.

👉 Keep the cutting edge clean. Wipe the tip with a dry cloth after use. Resin dust and adhesive residue can build up on the cutting edge and reduce sharpness over time.

Worth Knowing

Not for hard materials. Designed for soft wire, thin plastic, resin supports, photo-etch, and similar light-duty materials. Cutting thick metal rod, hard sprue gates, or brass tube will damage the cutting edge.

Flat head, not pointed. If you need ultra-fine pointed tweezers for placing tiny decals or picking up individual parts, AK's standard precision tweezers are better suited. The flat head on the AK9331 is specifically designed for cutting — the trade-off is a wider tip that's less precise for delicate pick-and-place work.
