Product overview

Aircraft Landing Gear Weathering Set is a three-jar blister of AK's 35 ml enamel weathering products for aircraft landing gear — AK's card says the three products achieve realism in the landing gears of planes of all eras. Landing Gear Wash is indicated by AK for the darkest shades of metallic surfaces, such as jet engines and hydraulic suspensions of WWII or modern aircraft; Landing Gear Dust recreates natural dust effects on landing gear and tyres, blended with a clean brush moist with enamel thinner; and Wash for Shafts and Bearings works as a grease effect you can manipulate until dry. All three jars are enamels, stocked by us separately as singles.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
