💡 What They Are

Rigid, transparent acrylic (PMMA) rods with intense fluorescent colour throughout. Smooth, glossy finish. Glow brighter under UV/blacklight, but look vivid even in normal lighting.

Cut them, shape them, glue them — instant energy weapons, lasers, antennas, power conduits, crystal effects and anything that needs to look like it's radiating energy.

📏 Size Guide

1.6 mm	Thin spear tips, small swords, antennas, handrails, fine crystals. Best for 28–32 mm scale.
2.4 mm	Power swords, halberds, masts, reactor columns, chunky crystals. Better for larger models and terrain.

🛠️ Working with Them

Cutting: Score with a hobby knife and snap, or use a fine model saw.

Shaping: Sand ends with 400–800 grit for points or flats. Polish for crystal clarity.

Bending: Gentle curves with heat (steam, warm air). Don't bend cold — acrylic snaps.

Gluing: CA (superglue) or acrylic cement. Apply thinly — excess CA fogs the surface.

💡 Paint the inside of the socket before gluing — the rod is transparent and bare plastic shows through.

⚠️ Good to Know Before You Buy

🔸 Rigid, not flexible. Solid acrylic — holds shape permanently but won't survive repeated bending. Static elements only.

🔸 Scratches show. Heavy sanding frosts the surface (some people want this for a diffused glow effect, but be aware).

🔸 CA fogging. Superglue vapour can cloud acrylic near the joint. Use small amounts with ventilation.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Do they actually glow?

They're fluorescent, not phosphorescent — they don't glow in the dark on their own. Under UV/blacklight, the edges and tips light up intensely. In normal light, they're vivid and saturated.

Can I bend them into curves?

Gentle curves are possible by warming the rod with steam or warm air. Never bend cold — acrylic will snap.

Which size should I choose?

1.6 mm for standard 28–32 mm miniatures — swords, spears, antennas. 2.4 mm for larger models, vehicles, terrain features, and chunkier energy effects.

What's the best glue?

CA (superglue) works well but apply sparingly — excess vapour can fog the rod near the joint. Plastic/acrylic cement is another option for a cleaner bond.
