Abteilung 502 Red is a multipurpose artist oil for red-painted surfaces and model-painting techniques. AK Interactive recommends it for vehicles requiring red primer effects, ship hulls, science-fiction models, figure clothing, accessories and red capes. It can also be used for stippling and mapping techniques. The published formulation combines PW6 and PR112 pigments, while the reduced-oil ABT502 medium is designed to support more matt finishes and controlled tonal transitions.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
