Abteilung 502 Neutral Grey is an artist oil for developing highlights and shadows on ships, aircraft, science-fiction vehicles and figures in dark uniforms. AK Interactive also recommends it for washes and filters over red, yellow, black and blue, as well as for working or fading grey camouflage. Its PW4 and PBk7 pigment combination provides a neutral mixing shade for modifying existing colours. The reduced-oil ABT502 formula is designed to produce more matt finishes while retaining the control and blending properties of oil paint.

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
