Product overview

Science-fiction hardware weathers differently from historical subjects, and AK Interactive's three-bottle set is mixed for exactly that. The box points it at sci-fi vehicles, mechas, Gunpla and robots, and the three 35 ml enamels inside — a detail wash, a streaking grime and an atmospheric dirt — handle panel lines, vertical streaking and accumulated dirt on sci-fi ships and vehicles. AK states the effects are specially developed to match the predominant tones of the theme, so the three sit together without extra mixing work. All three bottles are stocked by us separately.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
