AK638 Starship Atmospheric Dirt is a 35 ml enamel effect for building localised accumulations on robots, spacecraft and vehicles. Instead of drawing a continuous run, place small concentrations where grime would visually gather, then blur their boundaries into the surrounding surface. This makes it suitable for irregular dirt pockets and softened transitions across science-fiction subjects.

Shake before transferring the product to a fine brush.
Build the effect gradually in selected areas rather than across the whole panel.
Blur the placed dirt with a clean brush dampened in White Spirit.
White Spirit also serves for thinning and tool clean-up.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
