Pro Arte's Prolon student range — an affordable, springy synthetic round for watercolour, acrylic, gouache and oil.
The Pro Arte Masterstroke Series 60 is a student-quality range made from Pro Arte's own Prolon synthetic fibre — a different, more economical filament than the flagship Prolene. It is built for students, beginners and painters on a budget who want dependable performance without the cost of natural hair.
The round tapers to a fine point that springs back stroke after stroke, and the fibre copes with watercolour, acrylic, gouache and oil alike — one affordable brush across several media rather than a separate set for each.
What makes this brush special

How we measure a brushA visual guide to the measurements shown in the size chart above.
These are the same measurements shown in the size chart above. Brush sizes are not standardised across brands, so use these dimensions when comparing brushes within a series or between manufacturers.
Tuft Length
The visible length of the brush hairs, measured from the ferrule to the tip.
Belly Diameter
The widest point of the brush head. On round brushes, this is the widest part of the belly.
Total Length
The full measurement from the tip of the brush to the end of the handle.
How to care for your brush
Rinse after use and clean with brush soap periodically. Prolon is durable and forgiving; reshape the point after washing. Standard synthetic care keeps it usable for a long time — avoid leaving it standing in solvents.
