Product overview

Kneadatite Blue/Yellow is the original “Green Stuff” sculpting tape: a springy, non-grainy two-part putty for modelling, conversion work and fine detail. Cut equal lengths of the blue and yellow strips, knead them to a uniform green and use damp fingers to make mixing and shaping easier. At 24 °C it provides 1.5–2 hours of work life. The cured material holds folds, edges and small surface detail, then becomes workable with saws, drills, carving tools, abrasives and paint.

  • Choose from cut tape lengths of 6, 9, 12, 18 or 36 inches.
  • Functional cure occurs after 4–5 hours, when the material can be drilled, carved, sawn, sanded and painted.
  • Ultimate hardness is reached after 20–24 hours.
  • The tape has a minimum shelf life of one year in its original unopened packaging at 24 °C.
  • It will not adhere to polyethylene, polypropylene or PTFE.
  • Polymeric Systems states that it is not intended for structural applications.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
