UV Putty is a ready-to-use, one-component filler for micro-holes, small uneven areas and local repairs on metal, resin and plastic. It remains workable while you place and smooth it, then hardens only when exposed to a UV torch, lamp or strong sunlight. Hold the light 1 cm from the repair to cure it in 15 seconds. The semi-translucent material can be applied with a spatula, brush, sculpting tool or silicone shaper, and excess can be tidied with alcohol before exposure. Once cured, it can be sanded, polished and drilled.

What does UV-cure mean in practice?
UV-cure means the material remains workable until it is exposed to a suitable ultraviolet light source. A UV torch or lamp gives controlled curing directly over the repair, while strong sunlight may work for products whose instructions permit it. Shape, position and tidy the material before switching on the light. Always follow the product’s own guidance for the required light source, exposure method and storage conditions rather than assuming every UV material behaves identically.
Why should a deep repair be built in thin layers?
Thin layers allow ultraviolet light to reach the full depth of the material. If a fill is too deep or hidden behind an opaque edge, the surface may harden while material underneath remains soft. Build a deep repair gradually, exposing each layer before adding the next, unless the product specifically instructs otherwise. This gives more reliable curing, keeps the shape under control and reduces the chance of trapping uncured material inside the repair.
How should I tidy UV-curing material before exposing it?
Place only the amount needed, then shape it with a spatula, brush, sculpting tool or silicone shaper before curing. Wipe away misplaced material using the clean-up method stated for that product; do not assume water is suitable. Check the edges and nearby detail under good light before exposure, because correction becomes more difficult after the material hardens. Keep tools and the work surface clear of residue that could cure accidentally.
How should UV-curing materials be stored?
Keep UV-curing material tightly closed in its original light-resistant container. Store it away from direct sunlight, strong workshop lamps and any UV source that could reach the contents when the lid is open. Open the container only for as long as needed, use clean tools and avoid returning contaminated material to the pack. Follow the maker’s stated storage-temperature range and shelf-life guidance, as these differ between putties, resins and other light-cured products.
