Product overview

Three 25 mm boards make the Knight Black DSPIAE AS-BK25 a flat-sanding set for broad surfaces and seams. Light-coloured sanding dust remains visible against the black anodised finish, while the rigid face spans a seam rather than following its dip. The reusable metal backing is 2 mm thick; self-adhesive abrasive sheets are obtained separately and provide the entire cutting surface.

  • All three boards can remain loaded with different paper grades at the same time.
  • Grit ID labels from 180# to 2500# show which abrasive is attached to each tool.
  • Integral machining is followed by sandblasting and an anodising treatment.
  • The 25 mm width accepts a matching SP-series sheet without cutting it down.
  • Removing worn paper leaves no visible glue residue on the treated face.

Notes · Q & A

What's the difference between a needle file and a sanding stick?

Needle files are steel, cut faster and hold their shape for tight spots and metal. Sanding sticks are foam or paper-backed abrasive, kinder to plastic and better for smoothing broad, flat surfaces without gouging.

Which grit should I start with on mould lines?

For plastic, start around 400 grit to knock the line back, then refine with 600–800. Coarser than 400 leaves scratches you then have to chase out, so only go lower for resin flash or heavy work.

Should I file wet or dry?

Wet sanding with a drop of water reduces dust and clogging and gives a finer finish, which matters on resin where the dust is best not inhaled. Dry filing is fine for quick metal work and steel needle files.

How do I stop a file clogging with plastic or resin?

Brush it out with a stiff brass brush along the cut direction. For sanding sticks, tap them clean often. Clogged abrasive stops cutting and starts burnishing, which just polishes the high spots rather than removing them.
