Product overview

Blue in the 4 lb format is a workshop supply for mould filling, armature builds and repeated sculpting where several batches need to behave consistently across one project. The kit contains 4 lb in total, divided between one 2 lb Part A tub and one 2 lb Part B tub; neither container holds the full kit weight. Its coloured body remains distinguishable from a grey or primed build while forms are developed, although the cured work can still be painted normally.

  • The smooth, putty-like mixture remains workable for 1–3 hours.
  • Measure equal parts A and B at 50/50, then knead for two minutes to activate the compound.
  • It self-hardens without baking and must cure for 24 hours before sanding or drilling.
  • Aves states that the finished material is hard and waterproof, with 0% shrinkage.
  • To create a custom colour, blend Blue with another Part A colour first, then add an equal amount of Part B so the shade continues through the cured piece.

What's the difference between Green Stuff and Milliput-type putties?

Green Stuff is flexible and springy, holding fine sculpted detail like cloth and cabling. Milliput-type putties are harder-setting and sand smooth once cured, which makes them better for gap-filling and surfaces you want to blend flat. Many sculptors mix the two.

How do I stop epoxy putty sticking to my tools and fingers?

Keep a little water on the tool and your fingertips as a release; the putty won't grab a wet surface. Work in good light and let very tacky putty firm up for a few minutes before shaping fine detail.

How do I get the mixing ratio right?

Most epoxy putties cure at a 1:1 mix of the two parts by volume, kneaded until the colour is fully even with no streaks. Under-mixing leaves soft patches that never fully harden, so mix longer than feels necessary.

How do I fill a seam gap cleanly without losing nearby detail?

Press a small amount of putty into the gap, then wipe the excess back with a wet tool or a cotton bud before it cures, leaving putty only in the recess. Cleaning up wet saves sanding over detail later.
