WWII Luftwaffe Late War Colors closes AK's four-part Luftwaffe timeline: six 3rd Generation acrylics for German aircraft manufactured from ca. late summer of 1944 until the end of war — AK's hedge kept. The structure is the point: two RLM 76 underside versions, three versions of RLM 81 and one RLM 82. AK explains the three RLM 81s as two khaki and one dark green tone — the latter erroneously identified as RLM 83 in the past — reproduced from the officially approved formulas, and it names the subjects: Fw 190 D, He 162, Bf 109 G-10/K-4, Me 262 and Ar 234 B/C. RLM 76 Version 2 carries over from the Mid-War box AK11717.

  • Set contains (6 × 17 ml): AK11828 RLM 76 Version 2, AK11829 RLM 76 Late War Variation, AK11835 RLM 81 Version 1, AK11836 RLM 81 Version 2, AK11837 RLM 81 Version 3, AK11838 RLM 82
  • Three versions of RLM 81 — two khaki and one dark green — reproduced from the officially approved formulas, which varied with the component supply available to a given wartime paint manufacturer
  • Matt finish throughout — no metallic or gloss member in the box
  • Acrylic colours for brush; for airbrush, dilute with water or AK11500 thinner
  • The box carries AK's printed "Scale Reduction Factor" mark, as on the rest of the 3GEN AIR range

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
