WWII Luftwaffe Early War Colors is the second box in AK's four-part Luftwaffe timeline, covering the four camouflage colours most commonly used on all Luftwaffe front line aircraft from 1937 until circa mid-1941 — AK's hedge included. It overlaps its neighbours on purpose: RLM 65 (1938) also sits in the Pre-WWII box AK11715, and RLM 70 and RLM 71 carry on into the Mid-War box AK11717, because RLM 65, 70 and 71 stayed in use on bomber, ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft until late 1944. Two facts extend the box past its own era: RLM 70 was the standard propeller blade colour throughout the war, and RLM 02 was used for interior surfaces.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
