Product overview

Gun Metal in the True Metal system is a coloured wax intended to receive a final polish. AK461 can be brushed on or transferred with a fingertip or cotton swab; diluted material may also be delivered by airbrush. Once the layer has dried, polishing brings out the metallic finish, and you can seal it with acrylic varnish over it. Priming is recommended before application.

  • The Gun Metal colour contains 20 ml of wax-based metallic paint.
  • Airbrush preparation uses white spirit as the thinner.
  • Because the medium is wax-based, allow 48 hours for full drying.
  • The product is made in Spain.

What's the difference between a paint and a wash?

Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.

Can I use these paints in an airbrush?

Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.

Do I need a primer?

Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
