Product overview
AK Interactive's signature set for the Thirty Years' War brings together eighteen 3rd Generation acrylics personally selected by Rafa "Archiduque", a wargaming miniatures painter who collaborates with figure brands including Perry Miniatures. The shades are chosen for painting 28 mm miniatures of the 1618-1648 conflict with the triad system, and a painting guide is included inside the box. AK notes the range also suits the English Civil War and can be extrapolated to figures of other scales. The paints are chosen for 28 mm figures, but no figures come in the box.
Set contains (18 × 17 ml): AK11001 White, AK11033 Dark Sand, AK11031 Buff, AK11409 Orange Tan, AK11100 Light Brown, AK11121 Tan Earth, AK11127 British Khaki, AK11110 Leather Brown, AK11103 Medium Rust, AK11102 Deep Brown, AK11108 Hull Red, AK11146 Dark Green, AK11159 Russian Green, AK11170 Aquatic Turquoise, AK11181 Dark Blue, AK11165 Grey-Blue, AK11022 Dark Grey and AK11212 Gun Metal
Seventeen matt colours plus one metallic (AK11212 Gun Metal)
The shades are selected for the triad system; the guide inside the box works through painted 28 mm examples with base and highlight mixes (box front: "Painting guide inside")
AK's historical note: with no uniformity on any side except the Swedish army, armies identified themselves on the battlefield with feathers, sashes and armbands in their national colours — hence the spread of buffs, browns, greens, blues and greys in this palette

Notes · Q & A
What's the difference between a paint and a wash?+
Paints are opaque colour for coverage; washes are thin, pigmented fluids that flow into recesses to add shading and depth. Most painters use both.
Can I use these paints in an airbrush?+
Many acrylics can be thinned for airbrushing — check the product description; ranges marked "Air" or "airbrush-ready" work straight from the bottle.
Do I need a primer?+
Yes for bare plastic, resin or metal — primer gives paint a surface to grip and prevents chipping.
