Product overview
Three 245 × 195 mm sheets are supplied with AK6574, each at 0.5 mm thick. This styrene gauge provides ready material for walls, floors, decking, partitions and scratch-built box panels. Parts can be nested across the available area before cutting, helping make efficient use of each sheet. Mark openings and outside edges against a straightedge, then build the cut panels into larger forms or layer smaller sections to create raised detail.
Construction: solid flat sheet rather than a hollow profile
AK’s inch line gives a 9.64 × 7.68 in format at .020 in thick
Material and manufacturer-stated appearance: opaque white polystyrene

Notes · Q & A
What do the dimensions mean?+
The first figures describe the cross-section, followed by the stock length or sheet format. Strip is listed as thickness × width × length, round stock uses outside diameter × length, and sheet uses thickness × 245 × 195 mm. The 0.7 mm wall applies only to products explicitly described as hollow tube.
How should I cut modelling styrene?+
Score thin sheet and flat strip against a metal straightedge, then snap it along the cut. For thicker sheet and larger profiles, use repeated knife passes or a fine razor saw rather than forcing one deep cut. Clean the edge afterwards with a fine file or abrasive.
What glue should I use for styrene stock?+
Ordinary plastic or solvent cement is the usual choice because it softens the mating surfaces and welds the polystyrene together. Test-fit the pieces first and apply the cement sparingly, especially around fine details or exposed surfaces.
How do I choose a thickness or profile?+
Choose according to the shape you need and how you intend to cut or form it. Thin sheet and strip are easier to score, snap and curve by hand, while thicker sections usually need repeated knife passes or a fine saw. Rod, tube, angle, channel and half-round profiles provide ready-made cross-sections for particular details.
Does AK styrene need special preparation before painting?+
No special paint system is required; treat it like an ordinary polystyrene kit part. Remove cutting and sanding dust, apply primer where appropriate, and use your usual modelling paints.
